Discussion of Agenda Item
Shane's cats
Shane
- two cats with different personalities (one is more active/alpha, the other is more chill and sleeps a lot)
- have been sapyed, neutered, and received shots
- can be indoor or outdoor
- plan to have them in his room, with litterbox in room w/ access to outside through window
Seb
Clarification on pet capacity?
Alice
- ESAs don't count for pet capacity
- currently at 6/5
Rowan clarification
-Will be under cat capacity when two ppl move out next month
Jessi
- House has had cats outside
- Will need vet records
Kaycie
- outdoor cats responsible for decimimation of small outdoor wildlife populations (birds, snakes, etc), attached to outdoor critters
Olivia
- It would be keeping with precedent to approve this for August 17th, and when members in the past have asked
- Seconds motion
Alice
- Echo what Kaycie said, cats can mess with local wildlife, does not want that to happen because the house has a lot of local wildlife, objects to having cats outside
- wants to make sure paperwork is confirmed before approved
Karina
- Since all pet owners in house have to submit documentation, expects that to apply for incoming cats, understands documentation process is annoying/frustrating
- Does not have a problem with cats being outside, house has had outdoor cats in the past and there are two cats already living under house
- neighbor cat is also outside, impact of cats on neighborhood wildlife already happening, does not have much issue with outdoor cat impact
Seb
- ammend proposal to
1. cats can't move in without documentation (Rowan direct - already included in hous pet policy, not needed)
2. cats can't be permitted outdoors (Rowan direct - should be in change to pet policy, not included in specific proposal)
3. cats can't move in until catpacity is down (around Aug 16)
Bailey Star
- in a strange sensitive time with pet policy/pet move ins
- Shane has been very patient with the house, it is kind to make an exception with catpacity and house has done it before
- can approve cats today but can't move in without paperwork
Kaycie
- indoor/outdoor cats is a complex issue
- cats are an apex predator that consume a lot of the smaller wildlife population
- spends time outdoors and is connected to nature
Heart Meeting Update
Kaycie - inquiry on changing date of upcoming heart meeting
KAF vs House Food
Mae - pumpkin seeds ran out very quickly, clarify that community pantry items are for all members to enjoy
Rowan - there is some trouble/confusion distinguishing KAF and house food
Alice - frustrated with things going missing in the pantry but understands snack foods can go quickly, need to start defining what food is/isn't house property
Mae - KAF vs house food is that KAF is free, house food is things house has spent money on and is community property
Olivia - believes policy change won't fix issue and can be resolved interpersonally/mediation, sometimes items are already running low/have one serving left, so sometimes it's more efficient to just take the containers, but can't speak on taking fuller containers
Carina - only eats a few of house items as snacks outside of dinners, takes single servings of shared food, will take larger amounts of KAF so that there is not food waste and will share
- distinguishes KAF as occurring on Wednesday deliveries and when there is excess amount, and will distribute excess KAF if will go to waste
Rowan - appreciates the distinction between KAF and house food, but confusion can occur sometimes in distinguishing
Bailey - as Thursday dinner buddy also has confusion, perhaps KAF buddy could label items
Seb - could be helpful to label items as KAF vs house food
Rowan - can anyone do DB instead of MC? DB has to be done w/in two hours of dinner
