the board met primarily because we've had issues from several months ago that we've had fleas here at the house in common areas and people's rooms. we hadn't gotten on the same page as a house, so we met as a board to get on the same page. our steward is trying to help us get on the same page and get a record of it. it's important that we have a game plan for next time. this isn't to single anyone out, but to address a flea issue that's affected a good portion of the house. if you have concerns, please feel free to reach out to David M, our operations manager, if you need any assistance.
Rowan: so the notice that went out was threatening eviction?
Fay: No.
CHEA Rep 2: Fay
everyone is being held to the same standards–all pets are being held at the same level of care that's needed, and it's based off of Texas legal stuff, and how quickly we have to mediate things. Matthias and I are happy to help with stuff. I think we put on there about free to low-cost resources. this is to try to keep the house healthy.
Culture Coordinator:
Kaycie: i've ordered some books and am working on mediations
Food Planner:
nothing to report
Grounds Coordinator:
i got together with Shane to show him around since he's on grounds. there's lots of flowers and they've been loving the rain
Kitchen Kaiser:
Ruth: fay and I are still functioning as kitchen kaisers.
Fay: we set a regular meeting time, which i think will help us. there's a microwave on the way and a toaster.
Labor Czar:
no schedule changes this week
sign up for the labor rotation–it's on the wall in the dining room
Maintenance Coordinator:
Mastodon Overblower:
I hope I mentioned while I was running, I hope i was clear that I don't think that I have the skills to do this role, but I'm willing to learn and hope that you can help me learn and teach me.
Meeting Chair: Alice
Membership Coordinator:
Minutes Taker: Jessi
Steward:
Hi all,
Here's most of what I did for Steward this week:
–I attended the Emergency Board meeting, where we were able to get an Eradication Plan passed for our current pest issues.
–I've communicated that plan to the house. The short version is that every animal needs to be tested (by fecal sample) within 14 days of the board meeting OR receive proper treatment for intestinal worms, including tapeworms.
–Met with Alex briefly last night regarding some maintenance organization. Will follow up with Alex soon–accountabilibuddy-style!
Ongoing for next week:
–Hopefully I can help with getting complete documentation for all house dogs and cats. Currently I have incomplete documentation for:
- Pippin
- Lulu
- Squink
- Clementine
- Beans
If you're the pet parent/guardian of these fur-babies and would like some assistance in getting the proper documentation, please let me know. Please note that failure to do so is an evictable offense–so let's find a solution together.
–Connecting with David M regarding some minor organization stuff that may be helpful for Maintenance, but also for Grounds and the house as a whole.
–Since I'm noticing that a lot of officers seem to be missing their regular weekly reports (that's required based on all job descriptions!), I'll start Nudging officers weekly who don't either email out their reports or make them verbally at the meetings. (The minor exceptions to this will be Minutes Taker and Chair–because, obviously…) Please remember that “Nothing to report.” is technically an acceptable report.
Lastly, I'd like to shout-out the pet parents that are leading the way with their communication and clarity when it comes to being transparent about their fur-babies' health. Thank you to Matthias and Fay, who have shared their most recent information with the entire house so that there's no question as to where they stand.
Thanks all!
Jessi

Agenda Items
Agenda Item 1
(Alice) Do werewolves need to provide their own vet records? Do they count towards Catpacity?
Agenda Item 2
(Fay) Food left out overnight: DB task discrepency
Fay: a few things we expect out of DB aren't in the current description. one thing we expect the DB to do is to wash all the serving utensils. I have the current labor description printed from the old wiki. I'd like to add to rinse out the compost bucket, and adding wash all utensils, etc for dishes, and lastly to wipe down food waste from the silver tables.
INSERT NEW DESCRIPTION
Alice: i think it's a good idea and it all makes sense. it makes sense to also have DB wipe down the tables. the compost–that would suck if I were on DB but it does need to get done.
Ruth: i have no problem with any of these things. i remember when Jessi was proposing changes to labor descriptions, there were strong pushback from that. i think we should put it out for people to review for a week and then vote next week.
Mae: the big mop sink makes it easier and it's nice when people clean out the drain.
Matthias: i don't see a problem with any of those things. I didn't realize that rinsing out the bucket wasn't on the list, but I remember Ella requiring them. I think a lot of these are under the kitchen manager's purvue. i think these are easy and simple things that need to be done. if we need to vote them in, i'm for that. I'm for all these changes.
Fay: using the sprayer would be easy. it wouldn't need to be scrubbed, just cleaned out/rinsed.
Kaycie: i think this is all common sense but we may need to make it official
Rowan: it's important that our labor descriptions are clear and accurate and the same everywhere we read them. i don't think we need to have it up for a week, honestly.
Ruth: i think it's important for it to be consistant, if we're going to do it for one person we should do it for everyone.
Fay: its good to create transparancy. i hear your concern, Ruth, and Jessi's thing was more bigger things–officer roles should take more time. I'm open to more opinions.
matthias: i was going to reitterate that this is a kitchen manager task to manage. i think we should vote on it but it's also the responsibility of the kitchen manager to manage these
Kaycie: are you saying something that's different than what's beign proposed?
Matthias: I think that's part of why we have …
FAY: I'D LIKE TO MOTION TO AMMEND DINNER BUDDY JOB DESCRIPTION TO INCLUDE: RINSE COMPOST BUCKETS OUT, WASH ALL UTENSILS, DISHES, CONTAINERS USED FOR SERVING, AND WIPE SILVER TABLES CLEAN OF ANY FOOD REMNANTS.
ALICE: SECOND

New business
Alice: i think we order way too much Amazon as a house, and we should not be spending so much money as a house at Amazon
Ruth: we looked for the toaster and microwave elsewhere, but this was the best deal
Rowan: we have limited cards.
Ruth: we tried Home Depot, and it wasn't available. but is Home Depot really less bad?
Fay: amazon was way less expensive
Alice: why can't we go second hand
Fay: warranties
Jessi: recipts
Matthias: every money we send out we have to have recipts for
Rowan: why do our appliances keep breaking?
