====== August 29, 2026 ====== ===== House Members Attendance: ===== David Q Brigid Bailey Tokyo Olivia Jessi ===== Non-Regular Attendees: ===== Corey ===== Membership Review for Olivia re: Pippin ===== Meeting Chair: Corey Williams Meeting start: 3:20 pm Corey: So last time, we did a lot of talking. People were leaning toward a behavioral contract, but preferred Olivia be here to discuss the terms. It seems like the language hasn't changed since the last review, so this will just be a continuation. This is a space for people to say things to each other since not everyone was here last time. Hopefully we can get the first part over quickly and then work on resolutions. Olivia: Over the past few weeks, my attendance at work has been poor. I have been doing more closing shifts lately. It is my hope that this consistency has helped Pippin get used to being in a crate during my workdays. Still random days of the week, but we have a routine, do what we gotta do and I say goodbye to him before work. David: I’m appreciative of Olivia’s effort. It has been a lot more calm and its been very cool for the most part. We have been talking a little bit. Very small. I appreciate that. I can tell youve been spending time with Pippin and it shows. I think being with Pippin is the main thing. Everyone needs more love and its obvious Pippin is more at peace because youre spending more time with him. Jessi: I don’t have much more to add. The only point of this is to create a behavioral contract, so here we are. Corey: Obviously we can’t vote on this because we don’t have quorum, but we have the most directly affected people here, so let’s hash this out. Do we have any terms for a behavioral contract? Jessi: Yes. I think we would like to explore limiting the amount of time he is left alone and seeing the creative options to figure out how he can basically not be left alone in the room. How do we define success? Bailey: I don’t know whether that is something we can put in a behavioral contract. Olivia: I did recruit people from the community conversation to mitigate this issue, but I havent assigned anyone to any “shifts.” I feel awkward about going the last step of the way. I dont know how to sign a contract that relies on other people. Corey: The measurable part would be how much you did “your part” of it. I dont want to give too much of my own opinion. It is hard to write a behavioral contract explicitly limiting how many hours a dog can be left alone per day. David: I think the effort has been substantial. He feels secure. Whatever this is, however youve been able to do it has been successful. What would it take for this to continue? How much time has this taken, and how do we sustain that? How will we keep this up? I’m quite satisfied with the progress made. Is your schedule now an exception? Olivia: My schedule was different every day, but my new schedule has benefited him because it is more the same every day. The things that affect me and work affect him. The things that have been in pursuit of making things better at work has helped me get him into a routine. I came home early a couple days ago. It was after dark, but the house was quiet and I sat on the couch for 15 minutes or so before I went in the room. I wanted to say, this has been a wake up call. I appreciate the parts of it that have served that for me. David: Badass. I’m pleased with the result. It’s seemingly working. To see that, it’s not so hard to look at it and go, “this worked.” What does it take to stay at this level? Emotion insecurity, person feels. Establishing a routine has been better for Pippin. The goal should be to retain that. Taking a look at it from that end. You might not be able to make up for the time, but what youve done has had a positive affect. Let’s stay right there. For the behavior. Whatever that will take. Bailey: Maybe set up check ins. It doesnt seem like Olivia needs a behavioral contract. Corey: I think so too. Is there a way people could be aware of changing dynamics ahead of time? Olivia: I’m in favor of some sort of checking in, whether thats just me and the pet kaiser, or david and jessi, or anyone else in the community, or mediator, as they will. Corey: Maybe minimum, monthly check in with pet kaiser. Communicate major concerns to pet kaiser. Olivia: I usually know schedule changes weeks in advance. So I have more notice than I give myself credit for sometimes. It would be helpful while the kitchen is undergoing the renovations, since my room shares a wall with the kitchen. David: Put a note on the door: “today is going to be a long work day” Things like that can help a lot for us to understand. We are so close and talk so little. Tape it to the door. Ask for help. Olivia: I’ve chosen not to put anything on my door partly because its easier to do nothing, but also the quantity of things on my door may make it lost. I have an unused whiteboard next to my room. I could make half notes from me and the other half notes from someone who wants to say something. David: Yeah! David: I have a question: Do you believe Pippin knows what is going on in the next room, and its helping him and keeping his mind busy? Olivia: Its within the realm of possibility. When I’m here, he hides from the noise. David: You know Pippin in some ways, and some things have been helpful for Pippin. Olivia: I do still not know too much about what he is up to when I’m not there. Perhaps I could add white noise to his routine. Corey: We talked about the whiteboard, could it go both ways, so people have a way to communicate problems about Pippin, etc? Olivia: Yes, I can make that the bottom half of the whiteboard. David: Yes, it’s pretty common raising human kids. Have conversations about what happened during the day. Making that communication available is a very good thing. We could write he was “scared today” and that could help is figure him out more with timestamps. Olivia: That would be helpful for me to know. That is a nuance I dont have. When he needs to go potty, etc. David: Making progress. Great. Yeah yeah yeah, cool. David: We have beaten some things to death at some reviews. I think progress has been made that I’m happy with. Sometimes we have many reviews, and we have had 2, but even if cant get further, we have made progress. I think we could move this to a check in phase. The whiteboard may also be the answer to the whole thing. We dont need to go through a bunch of other things with the advancements we have made so far. Corey: We also talked about better ways to facilitate communication. Time stamping things when they happen with Pippin, the whiteboard. Good ideas thrown out here. Brigid: Cool! David: We also have a whiteboard outside our room, if you need to use it. Corey: I feel like we are reaching the conclusion. I don’t know if theres anything to vote on, and we cant vote until next Sunday anyway. Not sure how formal we want to get with the check ins. David: How is the flea thing going? Olivia: He needs to get redosed in about 12 or 13 weeks. His last dose was in July. I believe we are past the phase of having to deal with the pretreatment flea eggs hatching. I washed my sheets, he is not itchy. I haven’t noticed any fleas. David: We double washed our stuff and I found an improvement in our situation. We havent had a flea problem. There was, but with the washes, it just needs to stay in that direction. We are separated from the house. If theres a large flea problem, we can just put it on the whiteboard. So far, I’m satisfied with the results. Brigid: I can post this, but my clinic is having more pet vaccines on October 2nd. Olivia, if you need any vaccines or flea treatment, we do it for free. Olivia: I will follow up with you Brigid: I will send the flyer to you. David: I’m satisfied with the progress that has been made. I’m sorry that Jessi isnt here. I’m satisfied. Olivia: Since Jessi has also tried to make space for this twice, I dont want to ignore the contributions she was planning to make. I would still like to chat with her about her planned behavioral contract because we all live here. I'm not closed to any ideas., especially any i haven't heard yet. David: She cant make it back due to work. Me and Jessi are not the same person. My say is to extend this to another installment since Jessi is not able to be here. Olivia: I would like to consider this meeting resolved, but I am posting my schedule on my door, and if theres a day that works I’m willing to have a mediation or conversation with Jessi since she made time for this today and then had to leave. Corey: Can we make an agreement between Jessi and Olivia? David: Brigid is the mediator. So, there, what if we switch this over to your format and switch this out to further mediation between you and Jessi and Olivia? Brigid: I’m happy to do that. I can reach out to Jessi and let her know Olivia wants to mediate. Bailey: I dont think we need another meeting, but mediation would be good. Corey: Any closing thoughts, or can I go home? David: I’m proud of your progress so far Olivia: Thank you Corey: I’m gunna friggin call it. Meeting end: 4:08pm
